BIS HALLMARK GUARANTEE & PURITY POLICY

At Sri Mangalam Jewellery, we are committed to delivering highest-purity precious metals. We strictly adhere to the regulations established by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.

1. Mandatory BIS Hallmarking Compliance

• All primary gold jewellery offered in our mandatory categories is 100% BIS Hallmarked, featuring the official HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) 6-digit alphanumeric code laser-stamped along with the BIS logo and purity mark.
• Customers can verify the authenticity of any hallmarked jewellery piece purchased at our showroom using the official government BIS CARE App by entering the item's unique HUID code.

2. Gold Purity Grades (9K to 24K Overview)

Precious metal jewellery is crafted across various purity grades based on design requirements, structural strength, and customer preferences:

• 22K (916 Purity): Our flagship purity grade used for traditional bridal and everyday gold jewellery.
• 24K (999 Fine Gold): Used exclusively for gold coins, bullion bars, and specialized investment articles.
• 18K (750 Purity) & 14K (585 Purity): Used primarily for diamond-studded, gemstone, and lightweight modern structural jewellery.
• 9K (375 Purity) to 10K (417 Purity): Lightweight or utility jewellery manufactured for specific durability needs. Where applicable, these items are sold with explicit invoice disclosures regarding karatage and alloy content.

3. Statutory BIS Exemptions & Non-Hallmarked Category Disclaimers

In full alignment with BIS Hallmarking Regulations and Government notifications, certain categories of jewellery are legally exempt from mandatory laser hallmarking:

• Lightweight Articles: Any gold article weighing less than 2 (two) grams is legally exempt from mandatory BIS hallmarking under government rules.
• Specialized Handcrafted & Delicate Items: Articles where laser engraving or physical stamping is technically impossible due to delicate filigree, extreme thinness, or structural fragility that risks damaging the item.
• Special Order / Custom Non-Standard Karatages: Items specially manufactured below mandatory hallmarking thresholds (e.g., 9K / 10K custom orders) or special trade articles as defined under BIS guidelines.
• Silver Articles: Silver items sold as 925 fine silver carry internal store purity certification and hallmark marks where applicable under voluntary silver hallmarking frameworks.

4. Consumer Purity Assurance

• For any un-hallmarked exempt items (such as articles under 2 grams), Sri Mangalam Jewellery provides our official store purity guarantee on the invoice.
• Customers are always welcome to verify any article's purity using our in-house non-destructive XRF testing equipment prior to purchase.
